Chatham is one of the deeper industrial markets in the Triangle. The 305,000 SF warehouse listing currently for lease sits at the upper end of what TRES handles in industrial and flex; the smaller end runs down to 1,500 SF flex bays along the US-15-501 corridor. Chatham Park's planned commercial development next to Pittsboro is adding office and retail demand into the same market, and Briar Chapel's village retail center anchors the community-scale commercial side. Jordan Lake is the centerpiece of outdoor recreation in Chatham County. Over 14,000 acres of reservoir offering boating, fishing, swimming, and some of the best bald eagle viewing in the eastern United States. The surrounding state recreation areas provide miles of trails and waterfront access that residents use year-round.

Fearrington Village anchors the county's culinary and cultural life. The Fearrington House Inn and its restaurant, McIntyre's bookshop, and a calendar of events draw visitors from across the region. Chatham Mills in Pittsboro hosts local artisans and a regular farmers' market, and nearby wineries and small farms have built out the agritourism side.

Equestrian properties are a defining feature of Chatham. Working barns, fenced pasture, and an active horse community have been part of the county for generations, and the inventory of horse-ready acreage is one of the larger ones in the Triangle.
